Aloha rodger,

If you look closely, the P4Pro+, which is not available yet, has the Smaller CrystalSky 5.5" display built in.  Where did you find a price for the P4P+.  I looked all over a few hours ago and could not find it.

Aloha FuZZy,

The two CrystalSky monitors, 5.5" and ~8" are not available yet.  That is why the P4Pro+ is not for sale yet also.  The smaller monitor is not ready yet and it is built into the P4Pro+ Remote Controller.  I bet the goggles are using the same technology.  That will be cool.  They all have 1080p live feed display.

It sure will be nice when they are ready.

Aloha FuZZy,

Yeah, roger found it.  There are two locations.  One sells a P4P remote controller without a display for $319 and a P4P remote controller with a display for $599.  The $599 one also has the HDMI module while the $319 one has USB only.

     Then there is this one below;

http://store.dji.com/product/phantom-4-pro#/addons?_k=dncdvq

This is the P4P with the built in 5.5" 1000 cd/m2 display @1080p, the same description as the smaller CrystalSky monitor.  They will probably be using this one in the goggles.  Somehow though, the HDMI slot is not in the monitor itself.  They may be still working on that for the final introduction of the CrystalSky 5.5".

The larger two CrystalSky monitors have 1000 cd/m2 and 2000 cd/m2, twice the brightness of other displays and 4 times the brightness.  Also, they both have higher than 1440 resolution.  But, still no prices or release times.  DJI has a lot on their plate.

Aloha FuZZy,

The 7.85" CrystalSky monitor has a 4:3 aspect ratio and the 5.5" monitor has a 16:9 aspect ratio.  There will be three CrystalSky monitors.  The two larger ones have 1000 cd/m2 and 2000 cd/m2.
Apparently the CrystalSky images DJI uses for the CrystalSky promotion are all the smaller one.  Hmm, it may be a while.

How are you. The pricing is on DJI's Site. Hit the P4P section and go to "Buy". The pricing is there, at the time that I checked. The Display is $300.00 more for which I would assume is the smaller of the two Displays. I did not see individual prices, just complete P4P's. P4P+? What is that all about?

The screen that comes on the P4P+ is not removable. The crystalsky screens will be slightly different and will come out separately. I don't think you can go off the $300 more price of the P4P+ to assume the smaller  screen would be that price. I expect the smaller one to be at least $350.

Aloha rodger,

Actually, I was repeating some "iffy" information that turned out to be not accurate.  After looking at the Buy page like you did, it really looks like both the P4P and P4P+ are for sale.  The P4P+ has a week or two waiting period, the same as the P4P.  The GL300E and GL300F are also for sale separately with a waiting period.  The GL300E has the built-in 5.5" CrystalSky based screen in the display.  If you look at the images in the DJI Store, the GL300E HDMI is the same as the HDMI module sold for $100 and usable on the P3P, P3A, P4 and P4P.  The P4P+ comes with the GL300E Remote Controller.  I guess DJI had to do that to keep the screen thin like that.  It looks half the thickness of the CrystalSky 5.5" display.  BTW, the displays used in the promotion are all the 5.5" display.  Below is a photo I pulled from the promotions.

I think the 5.5" CrystalSky screen is the one being built into the goggles.  That would be really nice,  What a view that will be!  DJI just got to get the optics right.  Not an easy job.  Nice to hear from you again!

Aloha rodger,

There are two types of P4 Pro for sale now and they both have 1 or 2 week waiting period according to the DJI Store web page as you noted.  In order to differentiate between the two models, the P4P model with the built in screen, based on the CrystalSky 5.5" screen, is called the P4 Pro Plus (+).  The 5.5" screen is not larger, it is just built in.  The 7.85" screen of the CrystalSky display is not available in any capacity at this time.

Eventually, three CrystalSky monitors will be introduced.  The 5.5" display with 1000 cd/m2 and 1920x1080p resolution and the 7.85" displays with a 1000 cd/m2 or 2000 cd/m2 and a 2048x1536 resolution.

The P4 Pro Plus (+) is simply the name of the P4P with the GL300E Remote Controller that has a built-in display device (5.5 inch screen, 1920×1080p, 1000 cd/m2, Android system, 4G RAM+16G ROM).  The regular GL300F Remote Controller will still use tablets and smart phones.

Apparently brain food is not all of it.  The guy who runs DJI is rumored to have a bed in his office since he puts in so many hours.

     Hope this helps!

Aloha rodger,

That is probably the best approach.  I really want one for a dozen reasons.  It is probably the best idea for me to sell my P4 to fund the P4P.  But, I am really waiting for the CrystalSky 1000 cd/m2 7.85" and the goggles.  That will break my wallet but it will be worth it!

Aloha chris,

Mahalo for the information!  That explains a few things, particularly how long it is taking.  Where did they announce it?

Most of the other manufacturers are using 5-7" screens and then using Fresnel - like Lenses to provide focus.  Odd though, the 2 screen approach seems to conflict with the relatively narrow 4:3 aspect screen ratio that DJI usually puts in their products.  The racers and GoPro users prefer the 16:9 aspect ratio because it fits in better with their fisheye GoPro and wide angle cameras for horizon scan necessities.  I wonder if that announcement is a market feign?  If you can remember where they announced it I really would like to check it out.

On the other hand, DJI is introducing a mid-level racing drone in the Mavic and a two lens wide angle system will help with horizon scan necessities.  Maybe they will go with two 4:3 units for a 8:3 aspect ratio?  That could be interesting.  That way they can preserve all the work they have done with the 4:3 aspect ratio.  Hmm.  DJI, always a surprise!

Mahalo again for the food for thought!

Aloha rodger,

Oh yeah, absolutely.  That is my favorite part, and the weather.  Hell, I took three years of Latin as a kid and I want to use it!  I tell my friend, "Nimbus" cloud, X-nimbus cloud - it is a rain cloud!  Saves my okole every time!

The sectional charts are interesting in their own right as you note.  I try to figure them out without assistance, you know like, "When in doubt, read the directions!"  There is always time to read a guide later.  It makes it more fun like a puzzle.  And more relaxing during the learning process as well as after, as you note.  The old man's guide to learning new things - we have the time!  Good for senile dementia to.
