So what you say is if we don't activate Mavic or may be P4, then it won't fly.
It sounds not right to me. I do agree we need to turn on aircraft so system can read S/N for activation and yes, battery is required to turn it on.
This is the process which DJI used to record and manage aircraft they sold and for later services.
However, battery authentication is a whole different process that Mavic microprocessor to communicate with battery to read and control charging for each cell.
It is exactly the same as laptop batteries. Laptop BIOS can detect non OEM batteries and reject it, so sometimes when you bought a non OEM battery, you have to run a software to hack BIOS to by pass BIOS check.
