Old FW (1.6.8) versus new FW (1.7.9) I am truly shocked, and happy at the outcome.  

Hmmmm, that doesn't seem quite right either, I would expect to see some minor errors not all zeros.

But that could just be me

I know it is hard to believe, but this is literally night and day from before 1.7.9.  I am flying in the exact same spot in both flights - in the middle of nowhere in Upstate NY at my deer hunting camp.

It certainly looks good, and not before time either. That's been a while now the P3S owners have had to struggle with 1.6.8.

I was just as shocked.   I did post a thread a few days ago with what I did - so you may want to check that one to see what I did.

I've also had good results with the new FW, but did have an issue with "strong interference" message coming up on the AC status page, the one you get when it first connects or touch the top center button. Did you have any of that? Didn't get any during the flight itself, so there's none on the notice report from Health Drones. It's just on that AC status page.

No - everything went well.  No compass stuck errors, or interference errors at all.  Before 1.7.9 they were pretty much constant.

Hi, Sorry for the dumb question I'm new to this stuff., I don't know what those screen shots mean. What did the upgrade fix? Less errors of what?

I love a good story, with a happy ending. Haha

Glad to see you are now enjoying your drone flights, just the way they were always meant to be. ;-)

     Actually, that initial interference problem may be an issue with all the P3s and DJI GO.  I get it at the beginning with my P3P and p4 to.  Then a wonderful flight.  It may be due to having your controller too close to the aircraft when starting up, then you put the aircraft in its launch position.  Meanwhile, the DJI GO app has processed the relationship as "Strong Interference".  Still working on it!

That has me thinking, I run my RC with a DBS and amps on both the signals. Now I don't put the AC and the RC close by when powering up, but since I do have a 2w amp on the 5.8 signal and two 2.5w amps on the 2.4 signal. It would have the same affect as having the two units close when booting up, as in your example. They may be 20' apart, but with amps powered up it would be like the two units being very close if w/o the amps, if you take my meaning. Maybe on my next test flight I'll try to get out 100' or so before turning on the amps and see what happens.

I did a small test tonight at home. If I do two things different the "Strong Interference" on the status page will not appear. Keep the amps turned off, and load the Go app as the last step in the power up sequence. I'm thinking the amps are booting not only the RC and Phantom signals, but also any interference there is around. Not sure why the power up sequence (Go app last) seems to help with the warning not appearing.

On average, my P4 is getting about 600 such errors for a 15 minute flight.

I am still trying to figure out the video issues.  They come and go.  I downgraded my RC back to 1.6 but I still get green screens and the video freezes for 2 seconds.

I am considering flying in a custom channel mode, since the P4 very seldom changes channels anyway. I am recording which channels work best in each area I fly.  For new areas, I will tend to use CH 19.  It seems to be the best ch for my RC.

     My P4 Remote Controller was just mailed out, but when I get it back, I was going to try what you are doing now.  Part of the problem may be the fact that the P4 "Auto" mode does not change channels often enough to manage the video problems we face (as you note).  Using my P3P Remote Controller, I tried to find the best channel for my remote controller connecting with my P4.  Oddly enough, in my first test, all 8 of the channels worked better than "Auto".  Now, how can that be when Auto has all 8 channels at its disposal?

     We have a problem here and need to work with DJI to see what can be done to find an answer.

The 5.8 GHz signal for the P3S is for stick control.
