I've been told in the past that getting higher capacity cards leave you with the chance of losing more footage should the card crap out. Obviously that still makes sense, but with the P4P capable of 100mbps then it's going to eat up more memory. Is it wise to get 2x64gb cards or go with the bigger 128gb one. On the basis that they would cost the same, what would you do?

No ... it's not going to need more storage because it's not making bigger files.
And even if it was, you'd still be able to store many flights on the card sizes you mention.
If you value your images, it makes a lot more sense to use a number of 16GB cards and swap them out every flight rather than risking a lot of work sending it out again and again.
Bigger is not always better.

Obviously you don't shoot a lot. I've had 5 drone and never lost one or a memory card, but i have filled them up. The h265 ARE larger files.

Obviously you don't value your images and you have no idea how much I shoot.
Perhaps you just fly around your front yard or your local park.
But in the places I fly, there's no way I'd send my images out again after I bring them in safely.
Keeping a week's work on one card is crazy.

I find 64gb is a great size for 4K video. YMMV

As long as your SD card meets DJI specs, what difference does the SD card's write speed make?

It helps improve the quality of the overall playback with high end resolutions like 4K.

Huh?   The WRITE speed helps wi\th playback?
That sounds unlikely.
But no-one plays back from their SD card anyway, they copy the file to a hard drive.

As long as your card meets DJI specs, it will be just fine.
Paying more for a "better" or faster card makes no difference.
The speed bottleneck is in the Phantom, not the card being written to.

Lol... I'm just good with my drones. I've flown in 20 countries never lost a memory card. STFU you ...

Since you're so good with your drones, no-one else will ever lose theirs.
In that case ignore my advice because I'm such a "noob".

"Only an amateur would be worried about sending up a drone and not getting back."
Quite the opposite.
When you know the value of your work, you take more care to protect it.
What an absolute tosser.

Lol... I'm just good with my drones. I've flown in 20 countries never lost a memory card. Come on you noob. My point is that for some people who shoot 5-6 batteries a session shoot quite a bit of video and it would be handy to not have to switch memory cards, one less micro thing to worry about. Only an amateur would be worried about sending up a drone and not getting back.

FYI, if plan to record 4K at 100Mb/s on the P4P, you will need a U3 rated micro SD card, otherwise you won't be recording at 100Mb/s. At 100Mb/s a 64 GB SD card will hold 85 minutes of video.
I currently have a P3P and I use two 64GB micro SD's with a U1 rating. This way I have redundancy and I can be using one card in my phantom while using the other with my computer. Also, buying two 64GB is cheaper than one 128GB card.

I put a little guide together for myself. All the information you need to know about SD cards and data rates with the phantom series aircraft can be found below.
____________________________________________________________________________
                                  Transfer Speed Information
1. P3P Max write speed is 60 Mbps (7.5 MBps) at Cinema4K (.45 GB per minute, or 27 GB per hour)
2. P4P Max write speed is 100 Mbps (12.5 MBps) at Cinema4K (.75 GB per minute or 45GB per hour)
3. Lexar 64GB Micro SD max write speed is 160 Mbps (20 MBps) & 95MBps Read
4. Mbps (Mega Bits per second transfer speed)
5. MBps (Mega Bytes per second transfer speed)
6. Conversion 8 bits = 1 byte ———So, 8 Mbps = 1 MBps
7. Minimum sustained write speeds. A speed class rating means that the card has been verified to never write slower than the speed of that class
    1. U3: Minimum 30 MB/s Write
    2. U1: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    3. Class 10: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    4. Class 6: Minimum 6 MB/s Write
    5. Class 4: Minimum 4 MB/s Write
    6. V6: Minimum 6 MB/s Write
    7. V10: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    8. V30: Minimum 30 MB/s Write
    9. V90: Minimum 90 MB/s Write

9. Note, a U3 rated SD card is needed for the P4P. https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Pro ... ds=u3+micro+sd+card

The P4P has a max video bitrate of 100 Mbps (12.5 MB/s).
And it records perfectly on a U1 rated card.

If you needed U3 cards, DJI would state that in the specs and provide cards of that rating.
