About to go for a holiday in about two weeks and really wanna bring my Mavic with me.
I can't bear to put it in my luggage (knowing how they're thrown around) but I'm thinking that leaving it in my carry-on backpack with other things stuffed in it isn't such a good idea.
How would you guys bring it around? Is there any minimal case (preferrably hard) that you know of? Much prefer it to be small since Mavic was designed to be easy to carry around.

Thanks in advance

From what I have read, the carry on and even checked policies vary from airline to airline. I would double check with yours before assuming you can carry the battery onboard.

Wouldn't that matter more for the airport than the airline? The airline isn't checking your bag.

If you are flying internationally, especially stricter or poorer countries it can be "confiscated".

Based on the knowledge I have so far been traveling with my Phantom 3 sometimes.

The Airport (check the batteries) and which to my knowledge is a general recommendation/rule for LIPO batteries for most of the airlines but some Airlines don't let you have the Aircraft as carry on, that is what I have discovered so far.

Don't certain airlines/airports require you to be able to turn the device on?
As long as the battery is attached to the item and not separate and exposed?
(Do correct me if I'm wrong but when I went to the US the first part applied)

I've checked out those threads but I'm looking for something as compact as possible, probably 1-2 inches bigger than the mavic itself.

I thought it was more of a hazard to check the batteries than having them as carry-ons, that way if they catch fire they will be noticed and contained faster.

That is also what I have understood. The low temperature and pressure can be dangerous for LIPO batteries. They might catch fire. Best to have them in handluggage in the cabin (closer to normal temperature and pressure), and best to be discharged at 30%.
I'm definitely not an expert, but that is what I have heard...

I bought a small "fire prof" bag on amazon for 10 € and always had them as Carry on, i would say that the bigger AirPort the less fuzz. Sometimes then dont even look whats in the bag.

I have traveled internationally with both my P4 and Mavic. All airlines require that you carry your LiPo batteries in your carry on - they are not permitted in your checked luggage. Most airlines also require that you discharge your batteries to 30% of their capacity. It is also a good idea to cover the contracts with tape or some other method to prevent any metallic or conductive contact with the terminals. For the most part, it has been a simple process although in some European countries the only question was whether or not my drone was for "fun" or "work".

As far as bags go, GoPro makes a small reinforced case that snugly fits the Mavic and controller but not really anything else. There's a good pelican case or similar that fits the original packaging perfectly too. Really depends on how bulky you want to go and how strong you want it to be.

I have a smaller Lowe Pro backpack and I carried the Mavic Pro and 2 extra batteries on board. I discharged the batteries and taped the ends. I kept the Mavic Pro  in the DJI bag and put the gimbal lock on the camera. No problems going through security in either Canada or Mexico. The DJI bag fit into the Lowe Pro backpack easily so the Mavic was double packed.
