A big fast one!

I've been using Sandisk Extreme like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk ... extreme+memory+card , seem robust with my TomTom bandit. 90/80mb/s.

Those recommendations are spot-on!

HERE is the newer V30 version of that card for a similar price.  It's a GUARANTEED minimum write of 30MB (megaBYTES) per second; making it excellent for this higher bitrate 4k.

I will be using the included 16GB card in the P4P+ R/C.

FYI, if you plan to record 4K at 100Mb/s on the P4P, you will need a U3 rated micro SD card, otherwise you won't be recording at 100Mb/s. When it comes to video recording, it's all about the minimum sustained write speed, which is defined by which class the SD card falls under.

To clarify, Class 10 and U1 SD cards are not fast enough for the P4P when recording Cinema4K at 100Mb/s.

I put a little guide together for myself. All the information you need to know about SD cards and data rates with the phantom series aircraft can be found below.
____________________________________________________________________________
                                  Transfer Speed Information
1. P3P Max write speed is 60 Mbps (7.5 MBps) at Cinema4K (.45 GB per minute, or 27 GB per hour)
2. P4P Max write speed is 100 Mbps (12.5 MBps) at Cinema4K (.75 GB per minute or 45GB per hour)
3. Lexar U1 64GB Micro SD max write speed is 160 Mbps (20 MBps) & 95MBps Read
4. Mbps (Mega Bits per second transfer speed)
5. MBps (Mega Bytes per second transfer speed)
6. Conversion 8 bits = 1 byte ———So, 8 Mbps = 1 MBps
7. Minimum sustained write speeds. A speed class rating means that the card has been verified to never write slower than the speed of that class.
    1. U3: Minimum 30 MB/s Write
    2. U1: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    3. Class 10: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    4. Class 6: Minimum 6 MB/s Write
    5. Class 4: Minimum 4 MB/s Write
    6. V6: Minimum 6 MB/s Write
    7. V10: Minimum 10 MB/s Write
    8. V30: Minimum 30 MB/s Write
    9. V90: Minimum 90 MB/s Write
8. Online Guide https://www.bhphotovideo.com/exp ... cards-money-can-buy
9. Note, a U3 rated SD card is needed for the P4P. https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Pro ... ds=u3+micro+sd+card

Thank guys,
My P4Pro says SD card too slow on the stock 16 Sd they provided and also with the Lexar 1000x 3 series 64GB. Also says video cache is full.... any pointers?

Interesting read. 16GB won't be enough when I go out to shoot but I'm doubting between Sandisk Extreme U3, 32 or 64GB. Officially recommended by DJI. And I hope it will be fast enough. The included Panasonic 16GB card seems to be too slow. Anyone has the same experiences?

Im reading up on mem cards. The phantom 4 pro records at H.265 C4K:4096×2160 24/25/30p @100Mbps not 100 megabytes per second, which is then 12.5 MB/s (100 Mbps = 12.5 MB/s) Not even USB3 comes close to 100 megabytes per second, my SSD in my PC maybe does. Why would you need a 100 megabyte per second read/transfer card? Am I missing something?

Sean,

Your math is correct, but I think you've gotten yourself confused.

To clarify,
MB = MegaBytes
Mb = MegaBits

You need a SD card capable of recording 12.5MB/s (which is the same as saying 100Mb/s), this means you need a U3, V30, or V90 SD card. U1 cards are rated at 10MB/s sustained write speeds which is not fast enough for the 12.5MB/s the P4P is spitting out when recording at Cinema4K.

Does that clear things up?

It isn't that hard, just buy a Sandisk Extreme or Extreme Pro series SD card and you will be fine. The Lexar cards are dodgy, and have been reported many times as failing to intialise.

I ordered this one, https://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Pro ... ds=u3+micro+sd+card , and it works fine in a computer but gets 'error' when inserted in P4P.  Anyone know what's wrong

Avoid Lexar, they are very frequently reported on here as not working. Get a Sandisk Extreme series card.

Lexar is known to be incompatible with DJI products. You can't do anything about it, except maybe pray.

Do you recommend this SD? https://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-E ... 5MB%2Fs+Class+10+U3

I want to film in 4k 60fps.

Thanks very much!

Yes, but I would not pay $114 for it
I just got one for $42.50, on Amazon, about 2 weeks ago

Also, I'd take another look at post #8 in this thread, it has a lot of useful info.  Info you can use to make your own informed decision about this issue.
