Looking for a Phantom 4 on Black Friday special.  Any advice?

$999.00 is an excellent price for the P4. I've had mine since April and it's an amazing piece of technology. Read the users manual, get the feel for all the settings and go out and have fun.

Personally, I'd buy the P4P due to the sensors being all around the bird and other very cool features.  But, if a price point is your issue, I'd buy a Mavic...Has all the features of the P4, but is much more portable.  IMHO, it's a better bird all the way around.

Need to be aware though that the infrared sensors only operate in Beginner or Tripod mode.

Great deal for P4 it's a great machine and if your getting it get a couple of extra batteries, you will need them,
Your other option is of course p4p if you can afford it,
But you can always buy P4 use for a couple of months and sell it on don't think you will loose much on it, and then trade up.. good luck

Hmmm, OK, what exactly is the "tripod" mode?  I have read several posts with that referenced but no explanation as to what it was, I assume it to be a better mode for photography as in a tripod for a camera.
