4.0 is for the newer DJI drones:

DJI says: Use 4.0 if you have a Mavic, Inspire 2, Phantom 4, or Phantom 4 Professional.

My guess is that they stripped out a lot of old code that supported the earlier drones. The cleaning up that makes it do some things better might also be why it can't support the old drones.

Maybe they'll still support DJI Go 3? At least bug fixes. Since 4 doesn't support the OSMO, this seems possible.

So is it recommended that we use this or just use what I've been using (dji go app)

They seem to be claiming that the 4 app will have lower latency. "Near real time"

I would prefer a fresh start apps than having old legacy code stuck in the apps.

Anyone having good success with this on android?

Was there an official announcement by DJI given?   i can't find it..

Latest version of the iOS DJI Go app is currently v3.1.0.
