Sorry if this is a lame question but im squeaky new still. On the app will Phantom 4 be good for P4P or will there be a P4P specific app selection soon?

The P4 app should be appropriate for all the Phantom 4 models. Including the Phantom 4 Pro.

DJI GO 4.0 supports both P4 and P4Pro, while the previous APP version does not support P4Pro. DJI GO 4.0 is available for both android device and ios device, you could download the APP from Googleplay or Apple store.
