Can you confirm whether there is any difference between the 'DJI Assistant 2 for P4P' and the 'DJI Assistant 2 for P4' software please. They have different post dates.  I'm wondering what would happen should I connect the latter to a P4P. I'm wondering if people are being burnt by this if there's a difference...

Please use the corresponding Assistant 2 for aircraft, or it will not function well.

Could that be the reason why people with the new P4P are having IMU calibration errors , they went to the P4 download of DJI Assistant 2 and not the P4P assigned Assistant

That's sorta what I was going for here... ;-)  Many people already with a P4 may not have thought to download and install a separate Assistant after taking delivery of their P4P. I was curious for DJI's view.

But now a new question: will the P4 Assistant run with the P4P? Anyone tried this (assuming that's not already what you've done)?

Good point, more than likely it may have already been installed on their computers (P4 version).

I have a p4 pro with the IMU error and I downloaded the proper assistant version before updating the firmware on the p4 pro so that has nothing to do with it.

OK, good to have that clarified. I'm still waiting for my P4P, so can only point out the variables...

The new Assistant 2+ V 1.0.7 app is for both the P4 Pro  and P4 aircraft.

Is it not the same application and you select your aircraft in the application once you have started it?
If the P4P is not available as an option you have the wrong version.

Hey Aardvark, remember back a few months ago people were doing firmware updates and the nothing would work, and we discovered that they needed to do a firmware update on the aircraft first and then do the remote controller ??? reckon that might be possible too ????

But have a look at the copy in P4P downloads:-
"DJI Assistant 2 v1.0.7 For P4P
2016-11-25"

And one of the DJI mods suggested that only the version in the relevant section should be used. And the files are slightly different sizes. (85.4 versus 85.2 MB (ZIPS)). So it seems they are two different beasts.

Yes, you'd think that. But you'll note that they are referenced as 'Assistant 2 for P4' and Assistant 2 for P4P' on their respective pages. Also, post dates are different (although that could be just due to a later webpage creation for P4P). Anyway, costs little to try...

I think that was when they first introduced encryption, so both devices had to be compatible.

There was a firmware update for the P4P wasn't there ? If so I would try that first.


EDIT 25.11.2016 (or 11.25.2016 ) V01.01.0201.

I ordered the p4p+ with monitor, which hasn't arrived yet, but I believe folks that now have the p4p are doing a FW update rite out of the box, so that might be something for them to investigate !

Well good to see can P4 assistant cannot be used with P4P assistant as eliminates that theory

I can confirm that-I have both P4 & P4 PRO version 1.07 downloaded from P4 Pro Page and it works for BOTH craft

Thanks Jack, and that's what I'd expect too. But it's interesting the advice from DJI (to use the right one), and that the executables are different sizes and post dates. Oh well, no guts, no glory...
