Hi all, I just ordered a 10.1 inch tablet and I was wondering if anyone could direct me where to get a sunshade hood? I keep finding fits 9.7" but can't seem to find any larger ones. Thaks in advance for your help.

fansb1fe1104:

1: If you are unable to find one in that size, and/or
2: If you want to save money, and
3: If you are handy with pencils, rulers and scissors, then

You could construct you own hoods from standard or double thick black project construction cardboard:

I cut and folded a hood using Walmart school supply 2' by 3' card stock.

I've attached 2 pictures, one of the flat cutout, the other, folded into use with a 7 inch Samsung tablet.

Keep Smiling,

Augustus

That's very clever. But I'm not clear on how it (and the tablet) is secured to the RC mount though. I'll need to think more on that...

Yes - well, my ONIX 10.1" anyway. 10.1" sounds bigger, but it's just a wider profile.

The tablet fits into the folded hood. The clamp still holds thru the flexible card stock. The holes are obviously for USB cord and tablet  controls. The grip is tight. The extra flaps on the sides are to firm the structure into a semi-rigid square. The back of the tablet rests against the middle square.

That is really cool, I like your design. So just to be clear, it doesn't require any suction cups or anything to keep the tablet in place?

I use a PadHat from Hoodivision works a treat and looks good. They have them in sizes to fit all tablets.

That's neat!

The Onix 10.1 looks like a 16:9 screen ratio (Wide vision.) and the Samsung 10.1 I have is maybe a 4:3 size and it does not fit into the RC clamp.  The 9.7" Apple iPad Air 2 barely fits by 1mm, but it runs a lot better (No video lag and color bars.) than the two Samsung's I have.

I use PadHat from Hoodivision and it works pretty well.  Look on Amazon you can get extensions for bigger tablets.

Cool, but I can't buy from Amazon. They don't currently ship outside of the U.S. - certainly not Australia.

That's a shame, but makes sense about the profile difference. I don't think you have Aldi stores over there, but they were recently selling this little quad-core, 16Gb beauty for $AUD 89. I only bought it to run the apps for my P4 and P4P, so it's processing performance should be more than adequate.
But it's unusual profile makes it hard to fine a sunhood that fits...
