I wasn't ready for how much editing headache these drones would cause. I need to get a better computer setup first. Editing from phone sucks and videos keep deleting and i cant upload. Really thinking of selling my mavic pro. Ive flown about 5 to 7 times. My phone cache filled up and vids ending up in mov file and doesn't play. I think because recorded in 4k. Can anyone recommend a good editing program?
You really need a computer to edit on, it doesn't have to be anything crazy as long as you're not filming in 4k. However you will need plenty of storage space for videos as they pile up quickly. An external hard drive can solve this problem. DaVinci resolve is an awesome free editing program for windows if your computer can run it, with great color grading tools built in.
Davinci Resolve has a very capable free version. On the paid side I really like PowerDirector (for Windows users). If you are going to work with 4K video, PowerDirector works much faster/easier.
There's not a quality difference, it's just a different container. MOV is more for editing on Macs and MP4 for both PC and Mac. Really depends what you want.

Sony Vegas Pro 14.0 is incredible for 4K video editing. I've heard Sony's new Catalyst Production Suite software is excellent to use as well.
A lot of people transcode the 4k files to something smaller like 1080 or 720 for editing. Before rendering final output, you switch the videos back to their original 4k. It's called proxy editing. I use Premire but I think a lot of editing apps will do this automagically.
Cyberlink Power Director on Android brings PC-like HD video editing to mobiles and tablets. It's free to download. I've tried it, works lovely. Video rendering and converting in Full HD 1080p is very quick, given that the app is running on capable hardware. Quite a few editing tools and effects to play with too.
