Hi there,

I live in Canada and just tried to open a support ticket as after the upgrade to the latest firmware for the PS3 my battery displayed the "Battery Damaged" in the DJI GO app.

The battery was fully charged prior to the upgrade, and I have tried taking the battery out of the aircraft and reseating until until you hear the "click". I've also carefully cleaned the connectors but after each attempt it still displays the same message.

As I mentioned above I tried to open a support ticket but Canada it seems is not supported by the support portal..

Help! I've only had the drone for 6 months and I'd like to be able to fly for more than 24 mins

Thanks

Can you get into the DJI Go battery telemetry page and take a snapshot - post it here?

Sorry you are experiencing difficulties, the battery is warrantied for 6 months, if you are over that then there's nothing DJI can do.
If it's been under 6 months then call 818-235-0789 and send it in for evaluation.

Weak cell. Out of warranty. Run it down to 8% and once it's cool, recharge. If then it still won't balance, it won't let you fly. If it has more than 200 cycles, same effect.

Sounds like a Mavic battery.

15.2v is nominal voltage and not full ....

The full voltage of a DJI battery is 4 x 4.35v = 17.4v

It is normal for LiPo batterys to be quoted for nominal voltage.

4480mAh is only applicable when full charged.

DJI guys have said on another thread that this 200cycles is a myth ...

Problem is that if one cell gets poor - no amount of discharge / charge will recover it. You can get it to charge up to full sometimes - but as soon as a load is applied - the cell will return high internal resistance and fail.

The DJI batterys have one distinct disadvantage - access to individual cells for manual ops. You are basically trusting DJI FW and chip to look after that expensive pack for you.

That display of battery state shows 4th cell to be down compared to the others. Values differing by 0.02 ... 0.05v are fine ... but 0.2v is not good at all. It appears that the 4th cell is failing.

You can try discharging ... ebay has plenty of manual discharge adaptors for just a few $ ... then charge back up again. You may be lucky. But often its a forlorn hope.

Thanks Nigel. I tried getting down to 7-8% waited for a few hours for the battery to cool (wanted to make sure) and then fully recharged.

It seems to work fine in the Phantom, but the message is the same. It seems like something went wrong on the firmware update as the other batteries I have worked fine. That one was my newest, I'd only charged it twice

Neat. New firmware is killing batteries{:4_157:}

Like everything else in life .... there's always a bad one sometimes.

I would suggest switching ON the battery when charging ... its mentioned in manuals about the charger not wanting to go higher than the low 90's% when battery is near charged. That you switch on the battery to get charger to accept a near charged pack to charge up to full.

Once plugged in - leave it and see if charger + 'intelligence part of battery' then balance it out. It may be that charge software is defaulting out before completing balance.
