Hello together,

I have a few questions about the infrared sensors / side sensors of the Phantom 4 Pro.
I tought they will help to avoid obstacles and help during flight all the time (exept in sports mode) - same as the front and rear vision sensors..

But I have read here in an article and also here in a Phantom 4 forum that they are only enabled in beginning mode and in tripod mode? Is that true?

So beginners mode is not used if you are not completely new the phantoms and even then will be deisables shortly because of the reduced rage to 30 meters..

And tripot mode is a ver special flight mode..

So over all, the new infrared side sensors are nearly useless because they are off in 99,9% of all usage time - or am I wrong?

Thank you for all help on that and also your opinions!

Correct, infrared sensors only work in Beginner Mode & Tripod Mode.
It's good to have them if you plan on filming a wedding for example indoors.
But for outdoors, i'm glad we have Backwards facing sensors

Infrared sensors aren't capable of responding to objects at higher speeds. Perhaps the P5 will have optical side sensors and then it will have that capability. I tend to shut off my obstacle avoidance as it has screwed some of my shots up by stopping as I was going to coast over an object.
