Maiden flight today, was disappointed to see that I could not fly further away than about 90 feet (both horizontally and vertically) before beginning to lose the controller's signal. At that point, began to receive warnings on the DJI Go 4 app that the controller signal was weak, and to check antenna position. Thinking that there might have been external radio interference, I flew at another area about 8 miles away, no change. Good GPS, not flying in beginner mode, everything else looked fine. Downgraded to older firmware, will see what happens tomorrow in daylight. Has anyone else experienced this? Afraid I might have a hardware issue, but hoping it's something simpler.

I'm sorry you are having difficulties, you are pointing the antennas correctly correct?

Yes, the antennas are unfolded as directed. I also noticed that when I turned myself slightly in relation to the Magic in the air, the signal strength would fluctuate a bit. But it consistently loses signal at distances beyond about 90 feet. The signal begins to decrease from maximum indication when beyond about 50 feet. It's behaving as thought an antenna is either disconnected in the controller or at the drone.

If you are getting only 50ft then disconnects then please call 818-235-0789 and they will send you a shipping label to send it in for repair.
