I know straight up is the best position. And straight down when flying direclty above you. But lets say the drone is 50ft in front of me and 1000ft in the sky. How should i position the antenna for the strongest signal? I know the tip of the antenna is considered the dead zone. So i fee like straight up was the reason why my drone got a aircraft disconnected message 1000+ feet in the sky!

In 140 flights with my P4 I never once had the disconnect problems, the P4P on its second flight lost its signal and it initiated RTH luckily it did, it was 500 metres distance and 115 elevation and clear line of sight, I have lost all confidence  in flying this drone, I should be excited and wanting to fly it, but sadly I'm not, I'm just constantly looking for a problem on the screen to appear, I think it may be the 5.8 signal causing this, I may set it to 2.4 next time

Iv lost signal when P4P was 100m distance and about 100m elevation, open field, without any obstructions.
Drone returned with RTH. Tried one more time and almost same situation. I was having an artefacts on screen too.

Then i changed to 2.4 ( i was in 5.8 ) and i could go up to 150m almost 1km ahead without single signal loss or artefact on screen on same field like 2 minutes after first signal loses ( didn't even landed )

Yea it sucks, i honestly see no point in owning my drone anymore if i cant even pass 200ft without having some disconnecting problems lol.... idk what we can do!

'But lets say the drone is 50ft in front of me and 1000ft in the sky. '

That is almost the worst place for loss of signal, because you can point the antenna on the RC unit where you like, but the antenna in the aircraft is in the legs of the landing and vertical, and you cannot adjust it. This is why the manual warns you not to fly directly overhead.

For P4P, the best position antennas is different between the 2.4G and 5G, here are some screenshots for your reference:While it's recommended to fly it farther then higher instead of flyingt it straight above your head.

2.4 & 5.0 (GHz) are the frequencies for Wi-Fi standards (802.11).  The antennae on your aircraft and r/c are in those frequencies.

Optimal position for your antenna on the R/C would be as close to 90 degrees to the a/c as possible.  Since the emission is pulsed at the horizontal plane with respect to the antenna, your best signal will be at the mid-point of your antenna in the same plane as the a/c antenna.  This image shows what I mean graphically:  http://www.semfionetworks.com/up ... 47/6958999_orig.png
