Is it possible to use the iPad Air2 or iPad Pro with your Phantom 3 Standard? Do you need both Wi-Fi and Cellular capibilities as well? How much ram does one need, is 32 enough, or does one need 128 or 256GB?
What is the best holder for the iPad to use as your monitor?

I have a iPad Air 2 16GB Wifi only - works fine, but a bit heavy.
you'll need a holder for it, it won't fit in the stock clamp - you'll want something a bit more robust

Using an iPad Air2 Cellular with my Phantom 3 Pro, and it's great. No experience with the Standard or iPad Pro though.
You will always have WiFi, but the cellular model are the only ones that are built with the GPS module, which is nice to have...
Not sure how Standard works with these, but Follow Me and changing your dynamic home point require it.
As does live streaming your flights to your Facebook or YouTube channel. You'd require a cellular network account for that last option.
Mine is 64gb, which is plenty, unless you are storing video on the device, you may want more memory.

I use the iPad mini and it works great and not heavy at all. Below is a link to a good holder, but it'll involve taking your RC apart. It's easy work if your mechanically inclined. Though it says it's for DJI inspire, it'll work on any Phantom RC. The You Tube link is how to install it.

The mount for the Inspire will work on the RC unit of the Advance, Pro and 4K, but does not fit the Standard. It will hold an Air 2 just nicely.

Don't tell the guy in the video, because he installed it on the Phantom 3 Standard RC.

Why is the iPad placed backwards in that video? ;-)

Yes, but he had to open up the RC unit, drill a hole etc. Most people don't want to void their warranty by doing that.

I have the ipad air2. If I could go back in time I would get the ipad mini. The ipad air 2 is pretty light but still makes the controller top heavy and awkward to hold.

I have an iPad Pro and it seems to connect with the drone without any issues, I've never actually used it for flying though as it's a little big and my iPhone screen is plenty big for my purposes. If you're only going to use it for flying the drone then the Pro is probably overkill, but if you intend to use the iPad a lot then the Pro is a fantastic piece of kit.

I found the iPad Mini2 was a nice sized screen and weight wise.
But it tended to overheat, pretty good/bad, While flying one flight battery.
The iPad Air2 Cellular never even gets warm, even after four consecutive flight batteries.
