it could be Samsung related issue, but i doubt it.  my guess is its related to the new aspect ratios or to higher pixel densities..  my reasoning is because i can tweak my PPI to 430 or less and the crashing stops and i can also force 16:9 ratio instead of 18:9 with a custom resolution (2560 x 1440 instead of 2960 x 1440) and it cures the crashing..

Yea, that's one possibility, the display options. The U11 has a bit higher ppi than the S8 and less than the S8+, but nevertheless, the U11 has 534 ppi and always runs 1440 res all the time without issue.

U11 has 2560 x 1440 display  that is 16:9 pixel aspect ratio.  the samsung S8 has 2960 x 1440 display which is 18:9 pixel ratio.   16:9 has been a standard for years now and considered "standard widescreen" format now a days.    18:9 is total new, and essentially custom format..  so it is a variable.  the reason changing the PPi works is probably because it changes the formatting a bit of the pixels..
