What else is hidden in this update?

Agreed, and if it has no changes to the camera , why is there a FW version change to it ?

A very  wise man once said .....Fool me once , shame on you , fool me twice shame on me .

**** I love my DJI product but have learned the hard way on this , I have seen the update PDF  listing the changes only to see there was much more to the update .   I will stay at 1.8 on the AC for now and 1.6 on the RC until I get some feedback from other more daring members .

Most members after the 1.4 update kept updating in hopes that it would solve there problem only to dig themselves in deeper by doing so .  No Thank You

This is  a choice that each forum member will have to make doing  Due Dillagence  .

Would you upgrade to this firmware if you have the X5R? As it's not specifically listed for the Inspire 1 RAW and doesn't appear listed on the X5R downloads page.

Know it seems like the answer's in the question. But my DJI Go App is telling me to update the aircraft firmware and I want to make 100% sure that it's X5R safe.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

hi Donnie,
unfortunately, I will be learning the hard way again... because I cannot roll back to 1.81. So far the new updates are working just fine and the camera updates have improved the calibration and speed settings. As you know I only have the X3 camera but it has a new start up calibration rocks the camera side to side .... then goes through the gimbal dance.  There have been many fixes across the board as you say they do not document everything.

Have a great day my friend

This is not just an update, it will force commercial UAS operators to change their emergency procedures in the OM. I'm not sure if I want to explain how to cope with 3 seconds of emergency shutdown delay in my OM. This is totally ridiculous. So we have to find a way to mitigate the risk that something bad happens in those 3 seconds? Always be at least 4 seconds (at full speed at downwind) away from anything? That's at least around 150 meters.
in case you still wonder, no, I'm not a hobbyist.
This is far beyond fun for me as commercial operator.

I'm one of those people that has had virtually no problems with updates since I got my I1P 9 months ago. Seems that may now be changing. SD card formatted. Go app updated. RC shows aircraft firmware requires update. The .bin file loaded at root level. RC not turned on. Result? Nothing. I1P initializes as normal with no update after multiple attempts.

Suggestions?

Also... DJI Mindy. Please give more info on the motor stopping at 3 seconds. Are you saying it's possible to shut down the motor while the aircraft is in flight by pulling the throttle back and holding it there for 3+ seconds? I thought that was not possible.

I hate to make suggestions to a seasoned veteran but here it is .  Try using the AC to format the SD card.  Also perhaps try a new SD card. Make sure you are  using the  correct FW, triple check it .

What does the SD card say after you attempt the update ?  Abort Or what ?

Sorry you are having trouble FT

LOL.. Donnie. You know me better than that. Tried two different SD cards. Both formatted with the Go app. Deleted and redownloaded the update from the site. There is no .txt file on the cards to read. Yes, I have show hidden files enabled. It simply doesn't recognize this as an update. Donnie this means the CSC takes longer to kill (stop) the motors. Some tried this during beta testing.... but I did not.

This new change will help eliminate the accidental CSC in flight... it takes longer to take affect now.

Hi Donnie

Yes everything update ok, I put my DJI 16gig SD card with the new FW .bin file after normal reformatting (that's all I use that chip for). took about 14 min to complete the update using my Inspire 1 V2 X3 setup. The remote was updated using the DJI Go App 3.11 and again no problems.  Now the only thing I noticed was, after the update the remote and Inspire did not link up and I had to relink the aircraft again to my remote.  It connected just fine after relinking.

Just came back from flying 2 batteries through my Inspire kept it pretty close by at 3000 feet at 200 feet up. everything was working okay for me.

warming up my hands because it was cold out there

If it would help I can post the log test file.

Read this post, the Z3 cannot update the Inspire 1 only the X3 or X5 cameras will complete the update. The Z3 camera already had a FW update recently..

Just to get a better idea, how long have you let the aircraft sit for the update process before you call it quits?

I've waited up to 20 minutes with the yellow light flashing. I've seen a few other X5 owners reporting the exact same thing.

Did you download the correct FW, I downloaded the raw version first and it did the yellow light. Realised my error and downloaded the pro version.

DJI-Jamie...

Ok. So I'm a bit confused here and that's not something I say often. Upon reviewing all the firmware on the I1P I see the numbers match what is listed on the DJI download site for my bird. The confusion is that the date on Inspire 1 Firmware v01.10.01.40 is 16/12/15. That is the date of the FW I was attempting to load yet now that I look. that is the same firmware that is already on my I1P. I can assure you, no update took place with these recent attempts. I can assure you there was never a log file created after any of the attempts. Please explain what's going on. Am I correct that even when you already have the FW installed it puts an entry on the log file if you have FW on your SD?

Also. Why on earth are there two FW files listed as "Inspire 1 Firmware" without any further info? This is why I attempted an update at all. Just looking at the last few numbers, I saw 1.30 on my aircraft and 1.40 on the update. Seems like a natural progression but I now see they are different FW for different purposes. Any reason why this can't be made clear? I'm usually not one to complain but this is a bit absurd.

Greetings,   After reading the posts I get the impression that attempting to update my Inspire 1 V1 with the Z3 camera will be unsuccessful. Which is true due to the fact that I tried several times without success. Inspire has no reaction when SD card is installed .  .   I no longer have my X3 camera so using that camera to upgrade is not possible.  Go app states upgrade required so I am assuming we need to wait for a different bin file to be released for the Z3.

Agreed, and if it has no changes to the camera , why is there a FW version change to it ?

A very  wise man once said .....Fool me once , shame on you , fool me twice shame on me .

Have to agree with yet again Donnie!

I have been turning up to the DJI Update Casino for close to 2 years now and not enjoying the odds that are on offer. Done my fair share of software beta testing so happy to now sit back and pass the testing over to some new players.

Compared to previous platforms I have used, the Inspire is great  - except for the constant and loosely documented updates that fix one thing and stuff up many other functions that used to be fine.

Hopefully there will come a day when DJI can release updates that do not have issues.....

as a suggestion DJI, bring back version 1.3 for us to use if we choose to. For those using the inspire professionally, we do not need all the gimmicks and bloatware that are now in the App.

Merry Xmas to all

Regards Wolf

I was having the same issue with my I1 & X5.  I was getting that I needed a FW Update for the AC & X5.  I was downloading the file for the Inspire 1, and when I put the card in--properly formatted, and tried 2 different cards on both IOS and PC 4 times.  I finally went to the "X5" tab and downloaded this file
"WM610_FC550_FW_V01.10.01.40.bin" and put the formatted card (on DJI Go App) into the AC, and success---DDDD-DDDD.

THANK YOU!!!!!

You have to ask why problems such as these exist in a 10 billion dollar company. How hard is it to get naming conventions correct and avoid confusions. How absurd is it that their mods don't have a clue and then just go poof when they can't find an answer.

You might have the wrong .bin, it took me a while to figure out I was downloading one for another version of Inspire, the correcto files for PRO/RAW are harder to find in the DJI site now, if you look for them in the product support page you will only find the Inspire 1 .bin, I had to use the page search to find the PRO file.
Hope this helps

I also ran into these issues with the aircraft not recognising the firmware file on SD card.
It was simply the wrong file (update for Inspire, not Inspire Pro). Two years in, after a dozen updates, missed this detail. Doh!

The clue is in previous update logs. You can see the FC version for your vehicle in previous entries. If the prefix in the firmware file doesn't correspond with your FC# in these logs, that will be the problem.
In DJI's defence, that much is at least consistent. The naming convention for these files is absurd - but at least it's consistent!

That said: Part of the reason we all panic when this stuff goes awry is the shocking track record for these updates. The documentation is sketchy at best, and it's always a punt in terms of the deployment pipeline. I only fly occasionally, but other people are relying on schedule. Local supplier to industry suggested 'Just fly' - rather than risk another firmware episode the night before.

The points made here about safety regime and operational compliance pretty much rule out the use of this kit anywhere but China. You simply can't comply with first world statutory stuff for aircraft. It's a very, very expensive toy that's simply intractable around commercial statutory requirements/schedule. The only way to comply is not accept DJI fiddling around with the stack *two years in*, and fly the-devil-you-know. This means no warranty, but that sure beats arriving on set with your d*** in your hand
