I wondered the same thing when I got mine, but it comes with a USB cable that connects to the charger, and you plug it in where your phone plugs into.

The controller charges with a USB to a micro USB that can charge off any USB port. And yes the cable is included.

So whats the big usb at the bottom mid of the controller use for?

If you want to use a different usb cable, say if you use a ipad mini you can go from the USB to the ipad / other tablet with a longer cable
