I had the same error on xiaomi mi4i (it has miui8 global ROM) . I tired of this bug and flash custom rROM without very slow UI of xiaomi. And my records sync again. Its because custom rom based on AOSP clear android without ugly addons.

If you were using a wireless network, you could try to use cellular network.
