The only occasion I can think of where you would need to use the cellular GPS location is if you were moving your RTH position.  That can be done from the map also (carefully).

Why people aren't screaming "it won't have GPS" amazes me.

Terrible idea. If you bought it, bring it back. No setting home point at RC if necessary and secondly and less important to some, no "follow me" and no future modes that will require GPS receiver at RC. If you want to turn off cellular for any reason, you can, if you want to turn on GPS for any reason, you can't.

I bought a used ipad mini 4 with cellular you do not need to have a sim card for it to work, you just need the gps to be able to use all the mavic flight modes.

Forgot that Follow Me mode uses GPS from the RC (cell phone) to update target location.

You need cellular for changing the home point to the RC mid-flight and for follow me but not for active track.

I got the ipad mini 4 with cell for that reason, I did not setup the cell service as I have unlimited on cell and can do wifi from it. I will be using in area without cell anyway.

you can get a used ipad mini cellular for rather cheap off ebay $300 if you dont mind used. i purchased the mav mount to hold the tablet and im super happy I did. I love it!

Did you get WIFI & CELLULAR OR JUST WIFI?

I have a Mini 4 and it has "Cellular DATA" but it has TEXT and VOICE blocked to where if it is called on either you hear the messages "that line is busy," and you hear it all the time, when you text it says "sorry that party has chosen not to receive any messages."  It also has GPS, which I am learning how to use.  I am wondering if anyone in the U.S. with the same iPAD receives their NFZ authorizations on the Mini 4?  I have not been able to get it on it even when I give the iPAD phone number because of those messages, and the verify code is in the form of a text message.  Any thoughts?
