Well, it happened. I had a discussion with a professional videographer and asked him for advice on getting better shots. His reply was to get closer to your subject material. (This was after trading footage for a project at work.) I did, and it has improved my videos. However, I got TOO CLOSE to a low tree branch on the canopy of a massive oak tree I was trying to fly under, and my Phantom 3A just nicked a branch, and fell like a stone. Luckily it landed on grass and leaves, but the damage was done. The gimble was broken, and there was structural damage. Here is what then happened. I opened a service ticket with DJI, got a UPS label, and shipped it out the next day. It took 4 days to get to CA from NC, but the day they received it, I got an email with what needed to be fixed, the repair cost ($170) and a link to pay. I did just that, and it was fixed within 24 hours, and I got it back pretty quickly. This drone has over 330 miles of flying distance on it according to my log, and I have had minimal issues with it. So, very pleased with the repair process and the condition of the bird that I got back. Another one of our drones was repaired and they pretty much had the same experience, however the bird came back working better than when it left. I just wanted to post this considering most posts on this forum are for problems and issues, and in this case, it was operator error, and DJI took very good care of me.
