Film in H.265 and transcode or H2.64? I desire 100mbps.

So I filmed in h.265 and only a handful of programs will convert them. I tried many including Xilisoft HEVC converter and it works out to be 160mb for a 30 second clip that is roughly 50mbps defeating the purpose of h.265.

160 MB x 8 = 1280 mega bits

1280 megabits ÷ 30 seconds = 42.6 megabits per second

What is the best way to achieve the 100mbps?

I think you're misunderstanding the whole 100mbps thing.

How so? It says 100mbps in h.265. I used a converter to get h.264 footage out of it as nothing will play h.265. I ended up with a 42mbps bitrate video.

I guess I should have asked a question first. What resolution and frame rate were you recording at? And is the file out of the Phantom actually showing 100mbps bitrate in its properties?

You can use either the h264 or h265 setting and get 100mbps, you don't have to use h265 unless you have some other reason to especially if you're just going to try and convert it after. I'm sure the conversion process could have reduced the bitrate, but I'm curious if the file was at 100mpbs to begin with cause dropping to half of it seems a lot.

Download a copy of MediaInfo, it is free and it adds the ablity to right-click on a media file and reveal the file data. That will tell you if the file is 100 Mb/s or not. Oh, and BTW how do you know the convertor you used did not reduce the bitrate?

Great recommendation. I bought that app for my mac and I can see that both h.264/h.265 are around 97-99 mbps bitrate.

The file I converted was 42mbps. So from now on I will use h.264.

I've also seen some people having better luck with reading h265 as an MP4 container instead of MOV.

If you can find a way, H.265 is a much better codec, but there are not a lot of applications around that can handle it yet.
