I turned it on in DJI Go app 4.0 and it made the Mavic shake on takeoff?

Anyone know what it's doing?

Hi, you might only turn this switch on, when you mount propeller guards on your 4 Mavic arms. Having not mounted them, but switched ON, makes Mavic shake. I had that today, because FW update did somehow set this switch

Sounds like they are going to release some prop guards soon ... most likely for indoor use i'd say.

I believe it's for prop guards that may be in the works.
I've inquired to see exactly what it's for.

Just wondering what it does to the motor  controller that makes it shake? If it's the same weight on all 4 corners what is it trying to compensate for?

Maybe it affects airflow somehow?

It'll turn up the gains for the extra weight, might adjust the exp and endpoint like tripod mode if its specifically for confined spaces ...

@DJI-Ken
Thanks for the confirmation interested to see what they come up with ... I'd hope they make them foldable, to compliment the mavic design ... the ones pictured look ok, but i'm guessing they arent foldable?

EDIT -Just noticed its a vid lol ... and no its not foldable

I tested again.  I think maybe it has something to do with wind?  After a little bit the shaking goes away.  Has anyone tested this out?

There's no shortage of prop guards available on eBay for the Mavic nowadays - I put in an order last week, they take ~3 weeks to arrive from China.

I bought a set of prop guards off eBay and tested them out. The Mavic flew fine with the prop guards, without changing any settings. I don't think the propellor guard setting was available at the time. I might try the prop guards again with this new setting, and see what it does.

I think the clue may be in the word "enclosed" and with no evidence apart from the naming I expect something like on the old Parrot AR.Drones - a guard that goes all the way around and obscures the forward sensors as well as affecting the airflow.

Where is that option?
I can't find it on my DJI GO?
Do we need to enable it if using propeller guards?

I don't know why they don't make the propellers flexible.

Having weight further from the center of gravity changes the polar moment of inertia of the aircraft, so the gyro gains are probably adjusted to compensate when the guards are installed.  the setting might also be helpful for people that are mounting 360 cams to their MP.

Edit:  there also used to be a set of enclosed cage prop guards for the mavic pro that used smaller props, this could be for that set
