Here is my test video. I have push end enough and try many time still can't pass initializing

The seller said i need to push more 0.2mm to balance the filter. I don't think this 0.2mm will affect so much.
PGY filter is more thick at least 2-3mm between the gimbal. The same problem on my friends too.
File_001.jpeg File_000(1).jpeg
I leave a comment on PGY youtube channel. They told me to send a email to their support but no one reply.
Luckly i just bought only one ND16 filter. I would like to try Taco or wait DJI offical ND filter.

I have the Taco RC Multi-coated filters and they let the gimbal fully initialize... Slow delivery though and they don't have a polarizer

I can live without a CPL for now and I will most likely ended up going for a TACO-RC kit if the PGY don't do as they say which by the looks of it they don't.

Interesting.  Here's my video of a PGYTech filter on the lens during the gimbal startup.  There are no restrictions going on but notice the startup movements are different than in your video.  The gimbal doesn't make the tilt to the left like yours did.  Does the gimbal initialize differently at different times?

EDIT:  Sorry, but I can't get the video to attach properly.  My point was it seems that when I tried the gimbal startup, the gimbal moved freely but didn't swing hard to the left near the end where the contact was made.  Anyhoo, I still haven't had weather to allow me to actually try out the filters yet, but for me, the gimbal seems to initialize freely with the filter on the lens.

I was wondering about this cause I noticed on all the youtube video's I watched on ND filters on the Mavic and none of them did the startup routine as shown in the OP video.

I don't think that any of the filter brands would be able to pass that swing to the left like in the OP's video.  They do need to be pushed on all the way however, as the tolerances are very close.

Just noticed also that the prop arms are closed in the OP video, whereas I had my Mavic fully extended.  Would this make any difference?

Sorry to hear this. I was hoping they would work on the Mavic... Do you think it is a weight issue? or is it hitting something?

What is the material of the lens, plastic or rubberized plastic?

Could you mind to share you video again? I find some videos on youtube. The gimbal check tilt left too.

I shoot this video without PGYtech ND on boxing day. It is 100% no problem.

You can check in other thread. Some guys have problem too.

The weight should be fine. It's only 1.3g.

okay, I was just thinking out loud
Let us know if you come up with a solution... did you try starting up the Mavic and then carefully putting on the filter?

Thanks a lot. It looks great.
What is your firmware version? Maybe the latest firmware has less movement when gimbal check.

After updated to latest firmware. The gimbal movement is less than before. But still can't pass the gimbal check.

I had the same problem with the Polar filters.  You have to turn the drone on, let it run it's calibration, then put the filter on the drone (a dodgy proposal, but it works).  Polar has a "cinema" series of ND filters that is supposed to fix the problem.  They come out January 10.  Polar is offering an upgrade for a small fee.

Can people post their firmware please.

Mine is .29 firmware and my PGY initialise fine.
Could there be additional initialisation checks in the later or earlier firmwares?? I dont recall, but my initialisation does NOT look left or right at the end of initialisation.

And make sure the mavic is not on portrait mode.

There could be a weight/motor issue with your gimbal.
I noticed your initialises differently without the ND filters.
Is there any warnings on your screen? Has it been in a crash? Is gimbal mounted correctly?

Turn the Mavic Pro on (let it initialize), then put the filter on the drone.  It should work fine.

The above video attached Taco ND filter(@3:20). Gimbal initial is completely same as mine.
I shooted a hundred video and photo. No warning, No Shaking, No Jello.
I don't think my Mavic has problem. You can check other thread they have same problem too.

In PGY installation demo, someone leave message too.
Do you think we all have a problem Mavic? I don't think so. lol

But thats not as advertised.
The PGY are designed to be left on.

I get it.  I had the same issue with the Polar set, as I said.  But this is a solution that actually solves the problem and gets your drone in the air with a filter.

Yeah, my PgyTech ND8 does the same. Managed to get the gimbal to initialise a couple of times by twisting the filter into the camera before powering on but even then, the next time I power on, it would mostly fail.
