I recently purchased the HDMI module for the phantom3 professional.  I updated the firmware on the phantom as well as the controller and batteries.  Indoor tests worked fine.  On my first flight witht the new module I lost signal after the first 30 seconds of flight.  The top bar went read saying "Lost Signal".  A pop message asked if I wanted to return to home.  Since the phantom was visibly in sight and close (maybe 30ft up and downward) I hovered.  The image came back so I landed it.

I rebooted and took off again.  The video image was quite jerky and again lost signal.  I was able to bring it back safely.  I still have the original output unit.  When it I replace it the phantom flies fine.  I've noticed a few people reporting this problem without resolution.

Any ideas?

Do you have any idea how many pilots this affects??  Where did you get the module ?  Wonder if anybody else but DJI manufactures them?

Thanks, but I could have told you that.  I've done that.  The stock module works.
I'm asking if anyone has found resolution with this issue.

I only have the P3A but had the same problem. I reinstalled the RC update and it worked after that....the HDMI  module has   to brought up to date with the latest firmware.Make sure your hooked up to the internet crank up the RC and open the DJI app on your andriod/IOS phone /tablet...should pop up with RC needs updating. You mite have to turn your andriod/IOS phone /tablet on and off a few times but the message to update should pop up!! Hope this helps...Cheers mate!! NOTE: I have only updated my RC to 1.6....1.8 causes problems and its a known problem!!!

The issue with poor video performance mainly with Andriod devices can be fixed by downgrading the TX firmware to 1.6 with My P4 I had no problems with an iPad/iPhone on ver 1.8 only with Samsung Note 4 and Tab S
1.6 seems to have fixed it on the Note 4 and 90% of the time on the Tab S, although the video performance isn't really fast enough on Tab S.  Would be good if DJI could address this known problem. However they claim that they cant reproduce it.

You can add my name for the ones that are having signal loss since I put the hdmi card in my new p4p, going to switch it back to the original board until DJI gets this fixed.

I sent mine in for repair.  They told me the ribbon wasn't connected properly (it was...and I verified when I put the old module back on...it works fine).  They sent it back to me and it still doesn't work.

You could try rolling back the firmware on the RC from V1.8 to V1.6:-

Connect display device (with wifi connection) to RC and power both up (aircraft off).

Run DJI Go, on initial screen (where it displays aircraft type etc) at top right hand corner you will see a 'graduation hat' icon (or perhaps three lines). Hold your finger on that for about 5 seconds and release. You should now see a black screen appear with an option to roll back RC firmware. Make sure RC is well charged, takes about 5 minutes or so. Power down when complete. Restart all and check all working, you may need to relink RC to aircraft.

The suspicion is that the firmware V1.8 has compatibility issues with the HDMI board.

I had the exact problem almost a year ago with my hdmi module.  It worked fine for a while, then gradually would not connect.  I did not change firmware or anything, it just began to fail, then failed completely.  I went back to the stock usb module and all is good.  I don't think it's a firmware issue.

Thanks Kneepuck...I have a feeling that's it.  The part that ticks me off is that I sent it away for three weeks.  They said they fixed it and that it was my error with the ribbon cable.  I'll put the old one back on today and give it a go.
