I live in Canada, max altitude on the DJI go app used to be 5000m.  It now says 500m anyone know why the change?

Max Altitude and height are different. Max altitude is above sea level and height is from where you launch

What is the legal limit for Canada

As Dave stated, 500m is the max height above your takeoff point that DJI allows you to fly.
The service ceiling of the aircraft is still 5000m. That's the altitude from sea level that the Mavic will still be flyable.

I'm 239m above sea level.

All I know in the settings in the app before it said 5000m and after the latest firmware update it now says 500m.

Just wondering if anyone knew why the change?

So far Dave no laws or by laws or regulations yet.  As I understand it there are only guidelines and suggestions from Transport Canada.
I may not be correct but as I read it no fly zone is airports, prisons, and Federal parks.
