I noticed when my P3s is just sitting on my coffee table with blades off and connected (me just getting acquainted with everything) when I play with the gimbal knob to move camera,it will only go down and back up to looking straight but won't look up is this normal?

It  is until you go into the app and enable it to look up 30 degrees above the horizon.

Yeah, there's a switch in the gimbal settings to disable the limit (which stops you looking above the horizon usually). You're very likely to see the blades in the video if you do, though.

Ok thanks, so is it recommended that I just leave it alone?

Why do you want to look up. You'll be seeing your props in the pics

For me, many reasons.

1) Look out for hawks and airplanes.
2) Get a shot of the moon during the day.
3) When I am ascending, I want to know where those tree branches are so I can steer around them.
4) Get a video of the geese flying by (sometimes they are above 400').
