I purchased a sd reader to use with the sd card from camera to view pictures and video do I need to format the card?

You can format your card through the DJI Go App. When you are connected to the drone click on Menu (located above the camera/video controls). From there click on settings (looks like a gear), scroll to the bottom, and you will see Format Card.

I bought a new 64GB card and just put it in the P3S.  Did not have to format.
