North Bay here -your comments about the mavic being the only 'legal' DJI drone in Canada this year are certainly going to catch some attention. Care to elaborate and substantiate these claims? I'm not a facebooker so don't direct me there.

The Drone is not the issue. It's staying within Transport Canada's rules that's the issue.

Hey folks, Whitby here.... I just found out Henry's Camera is an official dist here in Canada, I was unaware and this makes it a bit more convenient when looking for parts or batteries.... Matter of fact they've got the p3p on sale for $1099 and the p3s for $611....thought I would share for those that were unaware!

Woodbridge, ON - two months away from buying my first drone. Thinking to get the P4 as I need to be able to hand catch it from my boat. I won't be able to do the same thing with a Mavic from a drifting boat.

Depends what you are going to do.

No matter what, learn the rules at Transport Canada:
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilav ... safely-legally.html

- If you are going to make money out of the video/picture, you need an SFOC
- If there is people, cars, houses under the drone, you will need an SFOC
- Do not fly over people's house, over any road, over any car/truck/bus
- Have at least liability insurance in case your drone's props hit somebody or somebody's property

Better feel like you are over doing than be caught under doing and get in trouble or hurt somebody.

Thanks Paniza! My intention is to fly the drone for pleasure only. Flying over people and properties? I guess this is a challenge for all drone lovers. I am not there yet but I am taking your advise.
My intention is to take off and land the drone on the bow of my anchored boat (16.5'). I would like to take lots of videos when I go fishing on Lake Simcoe.

Has anyone been successful in purchasing drone insurance for PERSONAL use? I seem to recall reading somewhere that you are required to have a minimum of $100k liability regardless if the use is personal or business.  So far anything I've been reading is that of drone insurance for business. I use my drone as a hobby and not for business purposes. I'm interested in hearing if anyone has given this any thought.

Any relevant info is much appreciated.
