Hi folks,

Is the Zenmuse Z3 gimbal (as used with an Inspire) compatible with an Osmo Handle?  Like how the X3 gimbal can be mounted on there?

No it doesn't look like the Z3 is compatible with the Osmo handle.
See point 2 of the FAQ's on the Z3 page:

2. Does the DJI Osmo support the Zenmuse Z3?
No. The Zenmuse Z3 is specially designed for aerial photography and is not compatible with the Osmo.

The X3 Zoom is though (the camera that comes with the Osmo+). Just depends how much zoom you need I guess!

It does!!!!! It works on my I1 and osmo

Ace.  Anyone know if it (the Z3) is focusable, or is it a fixed focus camera like the x3?

Tap to focus like the MP, P4P and I2. You can enable autofocus or manual...

I confirm, the Z3 is compatible with the OSMO (after upgrades). One point nevertheless, no sound recording (no mike on the Z3) but even with an externel mike plugged on the handle (which show on the GO App screen), no sound recording. Maybe a further upgrade ?

The Z3 is also compatible with the extension cable on the OSMO

Even more fun, the Z3 on standard OSMO allows for moving timelapse that is not avilable with the original camera.

didn't know that it can move when doing TL...sure its not gimbal drift?

When the Z3 is on the OSMO, and you go in timelapse menu, you have the possibility to select on the second page of the menu the beginning position of the gimbal, several intermediate positions, and the final position, and when you start the timelapse, it will smoothly go through the various angles you have set.This is not available with the X3.

Good to know, however TL on the Osmo is not of good quality. It's probably best to do it on another camera.

The video file produced by the OSMO is only in 720p, but you can record both video + jpg's, and produce a 4K TL from the jpg's, which is highly acceptable.
