So, I got my P4P+ last week and have been reading all the User Manuals before I even open the box, but still am a little timid about starting. I'm up in Santa Rosa and would really like to find a User Group of experienced flyers who could share some time to give me some beginner tips. Do you know where I might find this kind of help.

Just got my P4P+ last week and even after reading the User Manuals I am reluctant to start. I would feel much more comfortable if I was able to see some other users fly and maybe get some tips first. Do you know where I might find such help.

Great, someone else in Santa Rosa. I got the P4P+ but have not yet opened the package as I am reluctant to fly until I understand more. I've been reading the manuals but that's just reading. I would love to find others who have experience to gain more confidence first. I did buy a cheaper drone to practice but did not like it much.

YouTube has really good videos explaining everything from initial unboxing, setup, and all of the features.  Good idea to register w/FAA, too, as this bird records flight logs of all flights including location.  I'm w/in 5 miles of airport, and hospital w/helipad.

I would recommend taking a flight training course.
Also, make sure you register with FAA

Look into drone flight training courses.  I took a couple courses from DartDrones.  They're pretty good.

I'm game.  This will be my first DJi product.  I fly various quads from Storm, Horizon Hobby, & Traxxas.

Oakland, Lake Merritt. Just got my Mavic a couple days ago. Looks like we have a break in the rain this morning so looking to get some flying time in!

Grew up in Concord, and visit Yosemite from Texas twice a year now. Love to take pictures there and in SF area. Started a White House Petition to get the NPS to get their policies together and come up with rules instead of an outright ban on drones in the National Parks. Hello from San Mateo, CA. I can't wait to fly in Mendocino! Been flying the coast from Half Moon Bay down to Santa Cruz. I love the coastal stuff.

Anyone got a good safe spot a not so crazy drive from SF I should check out? My Mavic comes in today so I figure I'm up for a first flight this weekend

My new Mavic combo showed up yesterday.  Setting it all up, ready to fly Saturday.  Elementary school in Rohnert Park off Snyder ln.  Just have to be respectful of the winged fliers as they can get whiney w/multi-rotors.  I might bring my Convergence VTOL that will help me fit in.
