NO it will not,  can not load dji go4 on it,,  tried one before I got the mini 4,  with cell,   do not need the cell,  but  everything seems to work with it,   and you have a great picture,

I know it doesn't fit properly.  I have the original Mini and tried it.  It's technically narrower than the Mini 4, but because it's much thicker than the Mini 2 or 4 it doesn't slot into the controller arms like the 2 and 4 do, so in practice it's effectively too wide (if that makes any sense at all.

I'm also not convinced that DJI Go 4 works with the original Mini, but because of the fitment issues I never fully tested that (though I just saw that point was validated by HWKIDD above).

The original IPAD mini won't work.  Video can't keep up

three weeks to receive,   also   pictured is the dji sunhood,  with ipad mini 4

No problem, the iPad Mini is really a great alternative to your phone. And I love the larger screen.
If you got the FlyMore Combo, the Mini even fits in the front slot and is secured when you close the cover.

I bought an Ipad 4 mini and as my Mavic has arrived I've tested it and it works great thanks

I'm considering getting a iPad Mini 4 for my Mavic also.

I read somewhere that the follow me features don't work with a tablet. Is this right?

I just got an iPad mini2 and I way prefer flying with my iPhone 7 plus. The screen is way way brighter on the new iPhone and if you have an s7 edge your screen would be even brighter.  

However. That's said.

It's nice not wearing down your phone battery while flying.

I don't want to force anything into the control but will buy an Ipad Mini 4 if it fits without damaging the controller otherwise ill just stick to the Iphone 7 Plus

I use the Mini 4 and it fits snug and everything is accessible. Use the usb port on the bottom of the controller and remove the cable in the left arm.  

I haven't flown a lot with the Mavic a whole bunch but the Mini 4 seems to work well. I do turn off the wireless when I fly because of repeated warnings of interference.

Seems about the same as when I fly my P4 with the Mini 4.
