I am wondering if using filters on the camera, like a ND, or CPL, etc. - is harmful to the motors of the gimbal? in other words, the extra weight of something on the camera, would in theory make it harder for the gibmal to work? would that prematurely wear out the gimbal?

I would imagine if they were detrimental to the gimbal DJI wouldn't be making their own. I guess that might depend on the weight of whatever ones you use, but they're usually pretty light.

I would agree (and hope so)... so perhaps the gimbal was designed with that in mind, and it isn't "maxed-out" on it's weight already?

tape a quarter or nickle to the back of the camera if it worries you will counter balance it.

I believe OP may be worried more about total weight and not just gimbal balance.
