Still learning and just wanted to understand why the manual says that during Failsafe RTH obstacle avoidence is disabled.

This does not make sense to me and I just want to understand.  Is it because the Failsafe RTH will follow the exact track that it flew to when the Failsafe RTH was initiated?

Check page 15 of your manual again.
The second last point says:
The aircraft cannot avoid obstruction during failsafe RTH if the forward vision system is disabled.
