iPhone 5

I'm waiting for my Mavic to arrive. I currently still use an iPhone 5 and the Mavic manual says you need at least a 5S for the controller. Has any one tried using an iPhone 5? I don't want to buy a new phone unless I have to, but if I do have to, I'd rather do it now so I'm ready when my Mavic arrives.

I can test this tomorrow afternoon for you if no one replies, can you see the DJI Go 4 app on the store?

It may be worth picking out a new phone deal in case, then no research is needed on the day of arrival and you can just go for your first flight via the phone store?

The iPhone 7 is way ahead of the 5. The processor and waterproof aspects make it very good. I've had my phone at the bottom of the pool for 10mins with no problem. That alone is a huge selling point.

DJI Go 4 will not intall on an iPhone 5, it requires 5S or better. Bought an iPad mini2 for use with mine. (have an iPhone 5 as well)

I've used my iPhone 5 and it seemed fine other than a small screen, switched to the iPad 4 and tethered it to the iPhone 5 and have had great results.

You might be able to use the DJI Go 3.x app on the iPhone 5, but the 4.x version requires something newer, and the 4.x version is what you want to use.

I used my Mavic purchase as an excuse for also upgrading from my venerable 5 to a 7, though I could probably have picked up an iPad Mini and kept the older phone for another generation. ;)

Thanks everyone for the input. I guess a bigger screen would make life better too. I Guess I'll get a 7 plus. I'm already into it this far

My iPad does not have a phone connection but I can tether the iPad to the iPhone so as long as I am in range of a cell tower, my iPad is connected to the internet.
