They always split it in 4Gb chunks, regardless if the card file system supports bigger files or not. Explanation there is something about the processor, which to me as a computer engineer does not make too much sense but who knows... Maybe it's a 32-bit processor inside so cannot address more. Thing is, Fat32 or ExFAT, does not matter, it will be split anyways in 4Gb files and we will loose some frames when this happens, so a perfect stitch back is not possible... We need to know this and plan for it accordingly.
This is correct, but it does not have anything to do with the processor really, it is just a convention. You will find many action cameras and also larger cameras do this, even the GoPro does it, but in the case of the GoPro, the files do not have any missing frames. |
