Like others have mentioned. A Phantom 5 isn't in the near future at this time. The P4P/+ is the latest in the Phantom line.

The P5P/+ will no longer have a camera. It will actually fly the pilot, who can carry a camera of his choice. Here is the prototype:

Not bad, but after reading about new directions in tech being pursued, I suspect the P5 is likely to utilise Warp Transition Factor technology - or WTF for short. That way it can land before it takes off. Further, height and speed limitations may be removed, and the P5 instead restricted to 4 dimensions only.

The new P5 will likely be accompanied by a new RC unit to suit the craft's new capabilities. Whereas the old version relied heavily on Lightwave transmission technology, this new RC will instead need to utilise the new Lightyear transmission tech, effectively allowing the P5 to be guided to the far side of the Universe.

I suspect the only caveat with such flying will be to be wary of degraded planet avoidance sensor performance, because if the sensors are facing Black Holes their performance may be affected.

So? And the P4 was only 7 months old before the release of the P4P.I think they are going to release the P5 on April.

I have always thought the Phantom 4 was rushed on the market in order to compete with the typhoon With its new OA.... I honestly believe The P4P is what the P4 was always supposed to be.
DjI has to free up some assembly lines to produce the Mavic (it has been on hold way to long) also the new I2 And p4p....
It make since to me that the P4 and the the P3 line is going out of production.  Who knows the P5 might come out tomorrow... I personally wouldn't  hold out and wait.

And the lovely p4 will be getting the features of the p4pro soon in a firmware update..

I think whenever the P5 or whatever they decide to call it is released they'd better make sure they have enough stock and any production issues are resolved. I'm a sucker for the next tech but after the Mavic debacle I hope DJI get it right. You never know, by April Apple may own DJI and who knows what impact that has on future development etc. The one positive I could see is that recent history has shown that Apple don't launch without a decent level of stock and hardware production in full swing. Sure the software can be buggy but they soon fix that.
