I was wondering if anyone knew of anti-collision lights that would work on the P4P and meet FAA requirements.

These claim that they do: http://www.flytron.com/led-syste ... e.html#/color-white

Not the smartest of lights, but they are so small you don't really notice and they work very nicely, also having mounted them on the Phantom with 3M sticky pads, it still fits in the standard case so they can just stay attached.

The problem with oncoming air trafic is they aren't going to see your drones stock LED's as they point primarily downward. And are not very bright.
They work great for us, particularly at night, as we are below them.

By adding some brighter, more directional LED lights, you can be seen from a much greater distance, by larger incoming or nearby aircraft.

Would be able to share a picture of how you have it or them mounted on your aircraft?

Probably some Velcro or 3M double sided foam tape.
The Lume Cubes have 3D printed mounts and the LED's are adjustable for direction. ;-)

RedHotPoker hit the nail in the head in post #7. The stock LEDs are primarily for the user to get better orientation from below.

If you really want your aircraft visible to other aircraft then I think you want one on each side mounted as below and with the correct  colours for the sides.  They are fairly wide angle, about 120 degrees, but unlike a proper aircraft strobe you don't see much if looking fully side on.  I think they are 3W LEDs, but since they are off most of the time so don't get hot, they are being run in excess of 3W so they are really quite bright.  I ran a test when new and got 7 hours runtime, quite amazing for the tiny battery!

Note that I have it attached where it is pointing slightly downward since I use it to make the aircraft visible to me at long distance.  Helps a lot on cloudy days when the aircraft is against a dark background such as trees.

Even with 4 attached, you wouldn't notice the extra weight, carrying the weight of 4 Lume Cubes might not be practical!

The FAA requirement is 3 miles and only during Civil Twilight. They also may be dimmed if they are going to cause a problem with other Aircraft.

How much more visible are the Lume Cubes than the Flytron strobe?

I'm guessing there is not much difference in light output but the Lume Cube is more directional so the light is more concentrated?

I've got a few of those also, but mounting on a P4 is not easy, I have some saddle bags coming for the battery holder.

No not by a long shot!! They point down. An aircraft above the drone probably would not see them andd they are not bright enough. Try Lube Cubes or for a much cheaper option try this:

Yes, Lume Cubes have already designed mounts for the Phantom 4.
They even created mounts for the Phantom 3 Standard too.

The Mavic mounts are in the process,  & are being released very soon.

Why would anyone wish to attatch 4 Lume Cubes to their drone? I don't see the advantage...

What is your problem, this was back last July how many people have died because of what I said, and has the sky fallen in.

Putting the Lume Cube in one of seven Stobe modes they become much more than headlights.
They cast light at a wide beam, not directed strictly straight ahead light stream.

Colored filters can now also be added magnetically, by using a Lighthouse.

1) Again, re-read the answer to discover what my problem is.... which is figuring out what YOUR problem is.
2) The FARs concerning anti-collision lights have not changed since July. So don't blame your problem on July.
3)  How many people have been killed?  There has been at least a couple of midair collisions of Phantom drones and full-size aircraft, because the pilots couldn't see the drones, hence the anti-collision lights and FAR requirements.
4) My problem? Stupid people giving advice on public forums.

All peripherals are rather pricey. Much like the entry fee, with cubes and appropriate mounts.

Hey troll , No people killed, No people injured, midair collisions No damage done also in both cases drones were not using Lume Cubes if the were collision could have been avoided.

Seems like the most stupidest person on this forum has arrived way to late.
