I haven't been nervous about the prospect of flying but now the order is in I am getting butterflies at the thought of my first flight!

Good for you and welcome.  Just read, calibrate everything and learn all you can before that first nervous flight.  My Phantom was shaking more than me on my first flight.

I am starting to think that, since I ordered mine all the posts seem to be flyaways or dropping like a rock!

You will only hear of the few that have flyaways, usually pilot error.  You won't hear from the many that have good flying and excellent operating machines.  I have 2 vision +'s and more than 75 + flights and 1 minor crash, totally my fault on the third flight.  No damage except for 1 broken prop guard.
