So whats  the deal guys .. I see there is new firmware out 1.8.1 and all I read is bad stuff about it. So what is the best version of the firmware have installed ?

1.5.8 is the best but I stupidly upgraded to 1.7.9 and now can't go back because DJI block it. Not going to upgrade to 1.8.10 to many bad reports..,,

I am not sure what you are saying here How did the block it ? So then what you are saying is I should install 1.7.9 for now ?

About how often do they put out updates?

Personally I would not upgrade again and if your bird flys fine leave it alone. Other will probably say the same so hopefully you will get a few more comments. Regards DJI block downgrades, before 1.7.9. You could always revert back to an older software, since 1.7.9 DJI have built something in to stop you downgrading.

When they feel like it but seems to be every six months or so but that will probably reduce with them spending more time on newer products.

I'm new to this but I've experienced the video lag mentioned regarding this update. I've only had the P3S a little over a week so I can't compare to older software.

Latest update is 1.10.90 released 11/29/2016
1.9.60 6/13/2016
1.8.80 4/7/2016

I noticed in the hidden upgrade log that it says device 11.1 is at at one version, with arrow to another version after which it says current version is not supported.
It completes upgrades though.

So even if you have the 1.5.8 file on your PC you still can't downgrade?

If you bird has 1.7.9 it  won't let you downgrade even if you get the software from another source. The bird won't accept a older version now.
