Are the go apps not very bird specific? Can i use regular dji go for p3 and p4?

For the Phantom 4 you should now be using the DJI Go 4 app and not DJI Go app

At this moment you can use DJI Go for P3 & P4, DJI Go 4 cannot be used on P3 series of aircraft. It was also mentioned by one of the moderators that future Phantom 4 development would be incorporated into DJI Go 4 build.

In my opinion at this moment there is no major diffirencies between both of apps. GO4 looks more "modern" in term of HUD. For me, both has same stability (nVidia shield) and speed. Most of screens are the same in both apps. DJI says that Go4 has possibility to automatically create movie after all Your flight, but I have never has such opportunity, because every time I go to "Creator" tab it says "no video".

Do you have any videos cached in the Album section ? I just tried it here and it stitched together some short video tests I had done a few days ago.  There are choices along the bottom, but only seem to change the transitions a bit. Nothing too spectacular

Hmmm... I have disabled caching video to device. Thought that there will be possibility to choose from files located in SD of drone.

You can download files using the radio link, but not 4k, 2.7k video, nor DNG photos. But I've not tried any as yet with new editor on DJI Go 4.

Shame... That are files that I only use.
