You looked a bit nervous, but great catch, 7000m maybe on your radar next.
Thanks for showing the video...

You got me, I was nervous. It was a little too close for me.
Thanks Hallmark, every flight I still take time to think and plan but you can still find yourself in a stronger wind than expected.

I didn't leave enough room for error with this flight and should not have filmed surfers prior. That was the mistake here.

Lesson learned, hopefully can help someone else in similar situations.

" 6595M out to sea " would have drowned your bird.

You only went about half that OUT to sea, the total trip was 6595M.

Nice vid though.

Risky , specially when you are fighting against the wind.  I have also seen that stoping the recording and even lowering the streaming resolution helps out on the battery.

Very cool -- assume you did the time-lapsey sequences in post? Love when it transitions from time-lapse to full-motion surfing.

Why was it spinning at the end?

The spinning has me thinking- would this be something installed by software to possible scan 360 for collision avoidance (not even sure it could avoid anything at this point)

I am not sure as I was nervous but as far as I can tell I had no stick input to yaw, I was descending then and may have had slight angle on the stick , I'll check the Log

Ex machia - yes the time lapse was simply cut together in Final Cut (other software would work)
Then a cross dissolve transition applied

7KM is manageable. I did just that over Andaman Sea in Phuket and come back with more than 20% battery left.

Brave Man I was nervous watching.

I am nervous rewatching, it was a horrible mix of fun, adrenaline and nerves. It had me worried for the next flight, I moved to a remote dam. New battery, took off and then remote lost signal at a great distance, app crashed and lost the Mavic - my nerves were jelly at this stage

Rebooted app and Mavic was on the way back, another nervous video to watch.

Well, my clip wasn't as exciting as yours.
I try to reach the tiny island on the left but was short by maybe 500 meters and then I decided to turn around when battery hit 55%.  So all you can see is sea and a tiny island in front, on the way back, you see more sea and a beach.

I really don't understand why so many people want to test the distance especially over water, words fail me.

Fly safe and have fun.

It's human nature ... I respect people that take the risk above water rather than over populated area.

I agree, it's human nature and a bit of man vs machine in terms of nerves. Critical to really understand the weather and wind in particular which is difficult in coastal locations as it can be affected by cliffs and squalls, etc..  Nice video.

Thank you - I do this to explore.

Charter boat out to this spot costs a little, I can't swim that far.
I wanted to experience and use the lens myslef, I also wanted to test little Mavic for the flight test.

I feel this is still one of the safest ways to explore new locations and capture unique angles

Keep the videos coming, I thought it was great the vignettes into whales, sufers, etc.. rather than it being just a race to the edge and back ;-)

That was nice! I really want to see Australia and Solomon islands. There was a guy who married a lady from those islands remember up in Alaska. She saved my life (I think) literally {:4_169:} Gave me some magic coffee and I was cured of food poisoning. Who knows what was in it! Probably bat guano and stuff I don't want to know..

Surprised I didn't see solar panels on the homes

Would DJI refresh have replaced if you lost the mavic in this instance? Still not read up what covered and what isn't

For refresh you would need to have it recovered. I do have another insurance on top of this as a back up plan, this flight still made me sweat though, I have bonded with this little Mav. I'd hate to see it drown, heaps of sharks out there would be a quick death.
