I'm trying to downgrade my go app. I downloaded the apk file but when I try to install it, my phone says..not installed. what am I doing wrong

If your using android you have to go into the settings and allow downloads from outside sources (if your trying to downgrade), otherwise you can download the most recent  version directly from the google play store.

I used APK, but make sure you pick earlier than 3.1.1, like 2.9.1 .  if you look into your drop down notifications there it says download complete , click on that. It will open the go app.
Google maps wont show up till you restart your phone. then do a compass re cal. and an IMU recal

You did completely uninstall the bad app first and then reboot? If your mobile device is set as per post #3 it should flawlessly download and install the apk. If you downgrade any app, be sure you turn off auto updates in Play Store settings or it will just upgrade again.
