I have noticed that my tablet is easy to tap commands to indoors - but once out in the field with temps 0 down to -5C etc. - the taps sometimes are hard to get to work.

One flight other day - took about 20 taps to get RTH to cancel.

Anyone else notice this ?

I think I might have to invest in those gloves with 'touch screen tips' ....

I know that ... but want to find an answer to tapping screen for other commands as well ...

Take a look at your tablet's operating parameters, I'll bet you are below the recommended environmental conditions.  The most common touch screen technology is making an electrical connection via your skin, (Capacitive ) probably needs some level of moisture to conduct, not sure about that.   Anyway, when you touch the screen a minute electrical charge is transferred to your skin completing a circuit causing a voltage drop at that point on the electronic grid of the screen.  Cold, dry skin may not conduct as well.

Jack might have a point about the moisture, during the cold season I noticed that too. And if I wet the tip of my finger just a bit, it works right away.

I was thinking it was a combo of cold finger and cold screen. The dryness makes sense.
