Its fairly easy.
(you'll just need an android device once)

1. Download the Litchi app for Android. Or just download an APK file, lot of downloads available if you search.
2. In the Litchi app you put the camera settings to 1080p 60fps or 50fps (depending on PAL or NTSC)
3. Once you've done that you can shut Litchi for android down and go to your DJI GO app an voila! you can record 1080P 60fps within the DJI GO app.

Rememer that the DJI GO app does not support 60fps with our standards. But as long as you do not switch to a other format within the GO app you can shoot at 60fps.
If you go back to 2.7K you need to doe the Litch trick again. ;-)

You need lots of light to film in 60fps,...

Probably others found this trick to,... better reading it twice than not at all :-)

I'm confused. The Phantom 3 Standard is only able to record video at 30 frames per second for 1080p and 2.7k, that isn't something you can change with the software, it is an actual, physical limitation in the camera.

Yes it seems when you read the specs, but it is actually doing 60 fps at 1080P @ 40 mbits. Scouts owner! :-)

I have litchi and a P3S.  I will test this.  

It's an interesting hypothesis.

You will need Litchi for android by the way. On Litchi for iOS I cant select 1080P 60 / 50 fps

Who says? I'm not saying it isn't, I'm saying that the actual capabilities of a device can't be ascertained from the "features" listed on the side of the box.

What's the sensor in the camera? How fast is it? What's the gpu that processes the sensor data?

History is replete with manufacturers disabling or enabling features of devices based on the "model" it's installed in, even though the identical device is used in all/many models.

Jeez, I had to find this out the hard way. I purchased the iOS and I found out there is no 60fps. I can't believe this one.
