Hey,
Ive only recently got my Mavic and I have mega issues trying to watch footage.

I transfer the footage to my SSD and open with VLC and it says pauses for like 6 seconds, sometimes I get a green flicker but I am unsure what the issue is.  Monitoring task manager, I see a spike in CPU (40%ish) and nothing major with disk or memory.  I've monitored the GPU and thats fine also.

I think I have a pretty good PC!?  Its a modded HP Z420 - Only upgraded to a SSD and the GFX card, which is having a strain on the PSU as its pretty loud but cant see that the issue.  here are my specs:

Intel Xeon E5-1620 @3.60GHZ 8 Cores
16GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti
250GB SSD
1TB HDD
x2 Dell U2313 @ 1080p res using DVI and DisplayPort

Recording footage in 4K.

Any ideas?!  Im baffled!

VLC doesnt play the footage well (which surprised me too), you using windows 10? if so try the Films & TV app or even Quicktime

Sorry Im using Windows 7 professional, Ill edit my post.  Knew I forgot something.

I thought VLC is the best and thats what Ive read else where too.

It's good. In preferences I have it set post process level 6, ultrafast, film, high on the 4 core i7 6700. Try placebo if that doesn't work.

I am using HPz620 with dual E5 2690 with firepro w8100
4k footage from Mavic runs perfectly on Dell 5K monitor with VLC or any other video player.

Maybe you need to upgrade your graphic card?

You've got two Xeons!! Wow that's a beast!

I thought video doesn't use GFX as much compared to gaming?!

Installed K Lite Codec pack and change default program to their own player and seems to work just fine!
