Incrimination usually means self-violation of a formal law/regulation.

Which regulation/law are you referring to?

Part 107. Read it. VLOS also. You can't see it at 1200 ft. Nice try.  First page under operational rules. And yes these do apply to all of us.
So under the content I have read and seen the video. Seems to me you violated to rules. Maximum height and VLOS.
HERES THE LINK. READ IT.

Have good one.

You are 100% incorrect. Part 107 does NOT apply to RC aircraft flown for recreational purposes. If you were to read and comprehend, it even states as much at the bottom of 107.

https://www.faa.gov/uas/media/Part_107_Summary.pdf

"Model Aircraft • Part 107 does not apply to model aircraft that satisfy all of
the criteria specified in section 336 of Public Law 112-95."

Have you familiarized yourself with section 336 of 112-95?  Appears you have not, so I'll help you:

SEC. 336. SPECIAL RULE FOR MODEL AIRCRAFT.
(a) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding any other provision of law
relating to the incorporation of unmanned aircraft systems into
Federal Aviation Administration plans and policies, including this
subtitle, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration
may not promulgate any rule or regulation regarding a model
aircraft, or an aircraft being developed as a model aircraft, if—
(1) the aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational
use

It amazes me how many of you voluntarily choose to relinquish your rights solely out of fear of US government grandstanding.

So, the all-caps impassioned rhetoric aside, it is a guideline and not a set rule for hobbyists to stay under 400 feet?

That's good to know... that's the way I'd interpreted the law in my own reading of it, but wasn't 100% about it since some laws seem designed to fine people who believe they're following them sometimes.

Anyway, I've been staying under 400 feet regardless, since I'm within 5 miles of an airport and my neighborhood is class D airspace and I'm more comfortable knowing my Mavic is well below those planes coming in for landing and ascending from takeoff overhead.

Don't believe me or anyone else. Do as I do. Read for yourself.

Let us know if you even see the words "law" or "regulation" anywhere on that page..at all.

Yes, it's a great system, but I did notice that you apparently needed to ascend to almost 1,200 feet -- nearly three times what the FAA allows for safe flight -- to maintain your signal. I imagine the range is very good if you fly straight up too, but I've never tried it.

So funny, understated and well spoken.
Well said my friend,
Regards,
-d.

Regardless of what you interpret as rules (or just guidelines) for model aircraft,  the FAA has enforcement authority over model aircraft (Part 101) which endanger the National Airways.   If you're caught, you're lame excuse will be useless.

No, If I'm "caught" (by the numerous FAA officers that patrol parks and vacant fields for rogue RC flyers), then the burden of proof is on THEM to successfully prosecute.

Google how many successful RC flying cases where RC craft took off/landed safely/never were in the presence of any aircraft whatsoever, have been prosecuted.

I'll await the link. LOL

I did. I havent had a chance yet to repost using just the on cam video from the actual Mavic.  I also went further yesterday but the space on the SD ran out sp no video for that flight.
I've learned from this thread and from PM's: Post just the actual footage from the mavic, dont post the actual footage from the phone. The latter gets the forum drone police riled up.

Give me time to get the Mavic footage/video and to edit it, and toss some music to it. geesh. you guys are tough. LOL
