So according to FAA regulation Mavic pro needs to be registered.  But it is not on the FAA list of drones.  Would I still need to register the bird or can I wait till FAA add it to their list? Mavic Pro is the most popular drone atm so the fact it is not on FAA list may mean that it doesnt need to be rwgistered?

You aren't registering the drone: you're registering yourself, and you only have to do that once no matter which or how many drones you own / buy / fly, at least until your registration expires.

alternatively, dont register. There is zero enforcement.

That's probably true . . . so far. Are you volunteering to be the first to find out if they're willing to enforce those penalties?

"Failure to register an unmanned aircraft may result in regulatory and criminal penalties. The FAA may assess civil penalties up to $27,500. Criminal penalties include fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years."

I had a security guard ask to see my registration before letting me fly, so I'd recommend spending the $5.

Registration is required for any drone over 250 grams in weight.

Just curious, did you show him your FAA reg card you received via email or just the FAA number on the drone? Just curious what they would accept as proof of registration.

Im FAR from the first.

Per the FAA themselves, (NBC News report last week) there are far more persons operating drones that are unregistered, than are registered.

I had to show him the printed registration, he didn't ask to see if the drone had the FAA number attached as required.

I think the FAA number is more more for drone loss/recovery/ID purposes.

Don't mess with the Fed's, they can get mean quickly; five dollars covers a lot. What if you crash it in a playground, nobody hurt but a slow news day and the local media pick it up and publish "an illegal and unregistered.... Etc" gonna be a rough week.

And alternately if you don't, keep your mouth shut and do not post it, the Federal Government has people that are very good at research, and could make a conspiracy to commit_____ case easily.

I think $5 does buy peace of mind for flying.  I was just curious as to why FAA didn't list Mavic Pro and thought maybe FAA didn't think Mavic Pro as registry worth.

No problem. I'm not sure without you providing a link, but I suspect that you're referring to the Section 333 exemption list, which simplifies the approval process for people wanting to fly commercially one of the models on that list. As long as you're just "flying for fun" (a.k.a., "recreational use") and the aircraft is under 55 pounds, the FAA doesn't really care what you fly.

https://registermyuas.faa.gov/ This one would be better. I saw a couple other sites if you search for drone resgistration and some charge were $25. Where as if you go the the dot gov one it's $5.

The drone is not registered, only the operator.  You register and the number you receive is used on any/all of your sUAV craft.

Because some choose to not bow down willingly to extreme government overstepping.

I'm not registering a damn thing

That $5 can go towards my funds for more guns

I agree with the sentiment but not the conclusion. Besides, you can't even buy a box of .223 ammo for $5; better to put it towards your defense fund in case one of your drones ever lands in the FAA's hands.
